Karl Ove William
* 4 juli 2003 †

On the 4th of July 2003, at 8.42 pm, our precious baby made his entrance into the world. He weighed about eight pounds and was 23 inches long. Tall and handsome like his Dad, with his Mom´s chubby cheeks and nose. He was the most beautiful baby we had ever seen and our pride and joy was undescribable. Our son, Karl Ove William, was born.

He was named Karl after his Dad, Ove after his maternal Grandfather and William because... well, he just looked like a William!

The joy and happiness we felt for our son was clouded by pain and sadness. We knew that William´s little heart had stopped beating three days prior to his birth. Our son became an angel before he could see the love and pride in his parents´ eyes. No one really knew why William died, he was just one of those 400 children who die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in their mother´s womb (also known as Sudden Antenatal Death Syndrome) in Sweden every year. But in December 2004 we learned that the probable cause of his death was an infection, something that the expertise says "almost never happens". Even so, babies die of infections in the womb every day of the year. And there is nothing we can do to protect us from that, it just happens.

William, and his little sisters Nikolina and Linnea and his little brother Arvid, are the best things that has ever happened to us. We are sure that he, somewhere, can feel how deeply we love him and how grateful we are that he will always be a part of our lives. He is our pride and joy and he will always have a special place in our hearts. We will love and miss him every day for the rest of our lives.

This is our way of sharing with you the most precious gift that we have ever received - our son William!
